Recent News – Class action against Tavern on Broad/Wage Violation Law

A class action initiated by attorneys from Kalikhman & Rayz, LLC and Connolly Wells & Gray, LLP, in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, against Tavern on Broad – a popular sports bar located at the Bellevue in Philadelphia’s Center City – was recently profiled by The Pennsylvania Record – a periodical covering the Commonwealth’s legal system. As detailed in the complaint and The Record, Tavern on Broad failed to comply with state or federal minimum wage laws and compensation is now being sought on the basis of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 201 et seq., the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, 43 P.S. § 333.101, et seq., the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law, 43 Pa.C.S. § 260.1 et seq., and common law causes of action.

Our firm is actively involved in investigation and prosecution of various aspects of “wage and hour” violations, especially in the restaurant and entertainment industries, such as “working off the clock,” failure to pay minimum wage, and failure to conform to the U.S. Department of Labor “tip credit” requirements. If you or anyone you know may have been victimized by nefarious employment practices, please do not hesitate to contact Kalikhman & Rayz, LLC.
