Recent News – FLSA class action against Movie Tavern©

Recently, together with our colleagues from Connolly Wells & Gray, LLP, attorneys from Kalikhman & Rayz, LLC initiated a class action against Movie Tavern© – one of the largest in-theater dining chains in the United States. As detailed in the complaint, Movie Tavern© improperly claimed a “tip credit” against employees’ wages. Initiated in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the class action seeks compensation on the basis of the Fair Labor Standards Act, 29 U.S.C. § 201 et seq., the Pennsylvania Minimum Wage Act, 43 P.S. § 333.101, et seq., the Pennsylvania Wage Payment and Collection Law, 43 Pa.C.S. § 260.1 et seq., and common law causes of action.

Our firm is actively involved in investigation and prosecution of various aspects of “wage and hour” violations, especially in the restaurant and entertainment industries, such as “working off the clock,” failure to pay minimum wage, and failure to conform to the U.S. Department of Labor “tip credit” requirements. If you or anyone you know may have been victimized by nefarious employment practices, please do not hesitate to contact Kalikhman & Rayz, LLC.
